FuZhu's Garden
Immersive Installation

An officially selected work for screening at 2025 SONA
How can we revive forgotten minor mythologies through interactive digital mediums to connect current generations to the past?
Touch the water filled ceramic pot (touch sensor enabled) to trigger this immersive installation! This project explores the Chinese myth of Fuzhu, a gentle deer that appears before floods and natural disasters. I coincidentally came across Shanhai Jing (Classic of Mountains and Seas) and became immediately fascinated with how mythical creatures often embody specific geographical locations and cultural impressions.
Fuzhu’s myth also holds a duality—forgotten yet remembered, present yet physically intangible. This duality mirrors the fleeting nature of immersive media, where everything feels present but vanishes without the medium to sustain it.
Developed in Unity, April 2024, exhibited at the Askwith Kenner Global Languages and Culture Room (Pittsburgh).
